Overview
Our client wanted to evaluate the opportunity for improving communication between specialists in secondary care and their primary care colleagues. To deliver this we provided them access to 10 specialist consultants with a geographic and speciality spread representative of the UK market, all in a 2 week period. This allowed their team to evaluate which specialities had issues with communication, where there was already good practice in place, and where future opportunities may lie.
Situation
An European based Series B healthtech startup wanted to evaluate their commercial opportunity within the UK. They have a product which scaled well within their home country (streamlining communication between primary and secondary care).
They wanted local validation with both secondary and primary care physicians to determine whether their product solves a similar problem within the NHS. This also allowed their team to evaluate which specialties had issues with communication, where there was already good practice in place, and where future opportunities may lie.
Task
The startup contracted MCG to help them reach out to 10 specialist consultants from different specialities with a geographical spread throughout the UK. This was needed to provide a representative understanding of the UK clinical market as well as understanding the current clinical pathway.
Solution
MCG promptly organised multiple 1-on-1 sessions with the specific clinicians requested (Haematology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, GP, Oncology) within a 2 week period.
The founder simply needed to inform us of their team’s availability and turned up to the session with clinicians that have already been pre-briefed, allowing the clinicians to better inform the team on the current perspective.
Impact
These sessions were tremendously helpful to the startup and they were able to better refine their value proposition. More importantly, they realised a key opportunity that their product can serve - allowing them to navigate their UK go to market strategy more effectively and confidently.
